Piazza Gavi – Italian Cuisine

Gaetano “Gavi” Colaleo was born in 1955 and was raised in the Pullia region of Southern Italy. At the age of five he learned from his aunt about southern italian cusine and the importance of taking care of your guests.

On November 11, 1970 Gavi moved to California knowing no english. There he got a job at an italian deli where he quickly grasped the concepts about business and service which he took with him when he moved to Tucson in 1991 and opened his own restaurant in May 1992.

As his restaurant grew in popularity he expanded to what is now Piazza Gavi Italian Restaurant. For over 25 years Gavi’s has served the community in Southern Arizona by providing authentic Italian cuisine in a cheerful envoirnment. His food has won numerous awards and it is renowned by people all over the United States.

Gavi is driven by his joy of creativity with food and making people happy by serving them what he creates. He holds many memories which he cherishes and plans to see his restaurant thrive for years to come.
